how long would it take to complete a full 4x4 conversion

I think it'd be easier to and probably cheaper(if you priced how much work it would take to do it) to just find a 4x4 XJ.

I agree...if you want a 4x4, then you would be better off getting one instead of trying to build one. I have a 2wd XJ and I love it, then again, I do little more with it off road than puddle jumping. But I do blow the doors of my girlfriend's Camaro in an eight mile. (anything over that and my XJ has pretty much blown its load.) If you don't want the 4x2 you have anymore...I would gladly give you a couple benjies for it.
