i cant figure out why my four wheel drive wont engage, i checked the wishbone on the front axlewhen i pulled off the coverfor there was a fluid in it and a buddy sad it should just have wheel bearing grease on the shaft and the part that engages it onto the gear. i also noticed that there is a nipple on the transfer case that doesnt have a hose on it, but i cant find out where it should go if it should at all? HELP!!! i was up til 6:30 this mornin checkin vacuum and electical connections but it cant find anything outtta place

Your vac disconnect motor is most likely the problem. Thay are notorious for failing as the age. There are several threads that address this issue if you do a search.

On the passenger side of the axle housing. The motors are prone to vaccum leaks due to water and dirt that gets inside of them.

Is it the round price that the 3 vacuum lines go into cause I pulled it off and there seemed to be metal shavings in it and it had some sort of fluid in it and there's only suppsed to bearing grease on it

That is the part, and there should be fluid in it, differential fluid. No there should not be any metal shavings.

fluids good. there is not supposed to be grease. metal shavings are bad lol.

i took mine apart and used washers to keep it in the engaged position. it seems to work good. i dont have any pics but it is really self explanatory once you take it apart.
