Y shifter for 4wd knocks wen im sitting at a light if i push on it the knock stops its a 98 xj 14000 on it. Anyone have a similar problem it still works and everything but the knocking is annoying and do not like noises of loose things in my car especially on long rides

sounds like a linkage issue. they can develop "slack" over time and not allow the 4wd to dis/engage fully. get under her and take a look at linkage. get a buddy to actuate th 4wd shift lever while yo look- this will help asses any loosness. a 98 with only 14k miles souldnt have this issue... HAHAHA, just joking... i know its a typo! 140k is probably what was intended either way, just start looking at the visible parts that move! good luck!

Yea i tried all that no idea still what it could be its lifted but i dont think thatd change the angles of the 4wd linkage being its a unibody. Maybe somthing did shift and its rattling on some metal i cant see
