Default 4wd probs...

ive had my xj for about 4 monts now and done quite a bit of work t it but i noticed today that when i put it in 4L it still says part time on the dash... was wondering if this means it doesnt work properly (i can tell more power in 4L but i dont know if its working at full potential) or just some more bad xj wiring?

they do that. there are topics about part time and full time. belive full time kinda works like awd. a tire slips and the diff. delivers more power to the non slipping tires. and full time is just all out pulling. something like that. im not a xj professional and dont really dont know the difference between the two. alls i know mine does this, my 4wd works and thats all i care. i have the np 231. 2hi 4hi N 4lo

Thats how my 97 was with the np242 tcase. As long as you feel the torque difference when u put it into 4lo, it's in. There's no "almost" with it. Once it's in 4lo it's in and you'll feel it

Part time refers to the times it sould be used, not how it works. The 242 t case has full ( read anytime ) and part time ( locked and low) instead of hi range and low range

Ty for the input. I've noticed my wiring is going bad a little at a time ( front speakers, gear lights, 2h 4h N 4l lights) so was just wondering if this was another thing.
