yeah he does... my 89 2 door and several other peoples D30's do this... dont waste your time trying to replace switches and vacuum lines... just buy the $200 cable conversion kit off ebay or do it yourself like i did... 98ish chevy hood release cable, lawn mower throttle lever, bicycle brake part... google it... cost me less then $20 and dont ever have to worry about it again...

to make sure... jackup the front and back off the ground... stick it in 4x4 and less i spin the tires... if the front driveshaft is spinning but not the front tires then this is your problem... if your front driveshaft does not spin then your in trouble... lol

I think your right as far as what is the problem. I have owned 3 xjs 2 limited and one laredo, all were non vacuum front axles. I cannot tell you why some do and some do not,but recently I seen 2 in the jy both have the vacuum operated front axle and both were base models,no idea if that makes a difference or not.

The one piece was first introduced in 1991. At least that is what mitchell's says.

i wasted my money on that switch too... lol... your front driveshaft will spin if the vehicles moving... 4x4 or not... and all the tires wont catch unless your locked... one front and one back... well in most jeeps anyway... most are full spool
