Question 4wd locking hub conversion

How would I go about converting my front hubs to locking hubs. I am not a fan of the part time system that my '94 cherokee has. Are there any older model cherokees that uses locking front hubs that I could possibly strip from a junk yard? Also, my 4wd seems to be going in and out of 4wd. It clicks when it does this. I am thinking it is a vaccum issue.

Thanks for any help

Warn makes a kit and Mile Marker makes a kit. Both are pretty spendy but, the Mile Marker one is a little better deal. You can shop around online for the best deal.

Reider makes a knuckle kit which uses a high steer style knuckle and Parts from a chevy d44/10 bolt. The kit is pricey. Knuckles are 300 a piece, but when said and done you can run a true high steer and have rebuildable spindles. Just like the old style stuff.

I do believe you can a dana 44 from an old chevy or FSJ and cut the outers off. and weld them on to your dana 35.

The knuckles I am talking about use d30 ball joints, so Kinda a bolt on part. Personally I would just do a waggy 44 or a full width d44 with High steer for the money.

thats a big swap. the dana 44 from a FSJ is pass side pinion. and you might run into problems with welding on new spring platforms(not sure if there would be enough room) as for the pass side drop and very cool mod would be to threw up a Dana 300 Tcase in the mix. Now we're talking one stout XJ.
