Default 4 wheel drive transmission help

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2 wheel drive, put a rebuilt 4 wheel drive Asian warner transmission and transfer case in, used 2 wheel drive transmission valve body, so wiring harness would work. Having trouble with transmission now, premature lockup, upshifts 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as soon as take off. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix?

Stupid question, did you verify trans fluid level is correct?
Is the transmission from the same year run as your 96?
Kick down cable attached?
Assuming it is, can you replace the valve body with the original one for the new trans?
When I did my 4x4 conversion, I used all of the parts from the donor trans. All of the harnesses matched up to the existing ones.

In that case, some of the wiring would probably not line up with the original.
Only other thing I can think of is the TCU being the issue.
Could be a number of things, but I am no expert. Would need someone with more experience to chime in.
