Have you ever checked the fluid levels/condition in both front and rear diffs, transfer case, and transmission since you've owned this Jeep?
What's the coolant look like?
Have you greased every zerk fitting on the driveshafts and front suspension and at the same time visually inspected components for wear?
How about those u-joints at the outer ends of the front axle?
What kind of shape are the brake pads and shoes in?
Motor mounts and trans mount in good shape?
never checked the fluid levels in the differentials or transfer case...owned the jeep for a year as of feb 28th...never greased anything yet but u joints are in good condition checked them no wear on anything but need to put in a new rear pinion seal...brakes are in good condition everything is in great shape no rust no major problems at all never owned a better jeep only thing i never knew was that u when you turned the wheels all the way in 4wheel drive they kick and go bc ive never had that happen to me before so i thought it was worth questioning
and new....thats the only thing im new too i never knew that you couldnt turn the wheels all the way like i said before my step dads stuck in 4 wheel does not do that on dry pavement and in my last cherokee never had that happen either but now knowing that its normal i learned something knew and will add that to my knowledge unless something is cracking and popping

You need to do all those things before you're back on here belly-aching about a grenaded driveline component.

I'd watch it ... Cruiser knows what he's talking about. I'm going to have to side with him on this one. That's general maintaining of your vehicle especially if you've never done it

does he have a 242 t case? That would make more sense. They have a full time option that you can drive in all the time.

How do you know the transfer case isn't low and it's gonna grenade on you? You've never looked. Should I just keep that suggestion under my hat then and let you tear things up?
Your lack of maintenance could be the cause of some issues. I know how these Jeeps work. I was at the dealership from 1980 through 1992.

Yes, it is a Cherokee forum. It's a place where people come for help and advice. Two things that you've just received. The guy answering you was the service department manager when the XJ was introduced, and has been working on, driving, and offroading them for thirty years.
If you don't like that nobody's given you a magic bullet fix-all cure without you having to put ANY effort into your own vehicle, go to Facebook where they'll tell you it's the PCM's fault.

^^^^^^ good question right here.. OP: You need to listen to Cruiser if you want this fixed..or at least to be pointed in the right direction. Cruiser is a big old Safe full of Jeep knowledge, mess up the combination and its locked forever, hint hint.
Great analogy!!! Also OP you sound young, so you should be able to google 98% of symptoms and get some clarity of what kind of maintenance you need to be doing. I find it odd that you aren't "new" to Jeeps but yet within the first month of owning it all the fluids weren't even checked!!! Like it's been said, you have a wealth of knowledge here; especially from cruiser(the xj guru). Start with checking everything and lose the smartass attitude.

So you've never done routine maintenance on these components. Yet you're complaining something isn't working right. And you've had it for a year now. You trust the previous owner did all this before you got it? This last one I bought that's the first thing I did, I was under it checking EVERYTHING. Before you start griping at someone who is giving you routine maintenance advice you need to at least check these things yourself to make sure the lack of maintenance isn't what's causing the issue.
Just pour some of this stuff in your oil. It will fix every problem you have, including electrical shorts, and make your engine produce 80 more horsepower.
