Default 4 in'' total lift

alright so as of right now I have two jeeps. One stock 96 and a 92 with 2 inch coil spacers and either aal or shackles. I am switching this lift to my 96 but am eventually wanting 4in of total lift. I am planning on getting zj coil springs or some sort of 2 in springs and depending on what i already have, aal or shackles. I am wondering if i will need to get the jeep re-geared if i am planning on running 31s for the time being and eventually 33s? Also if i will need to invest in a SYE or can i safley just use the TC lowering kit?

You will be fine running 31s. When you move up to 33s you might need to re-gear.

You have Pre 97 XJs so you might be fine with just a TC drop and not need a SYE since they are less prone to vibes.

x2 this is true in most cases. However there are some exceptions to the rule. For the most part you should be fine.

I don't ever reccomend a TC drop to anyone becuase it will be come a low point and get snagged on everything. I mean I have 3in of lift with no drop and my X-member already takes enough abuse on Rocks.

Just spend the money and do it right

I have one, and I don't get hung up, so...

I think it is a cost effective alternative to a SYE, if you are willing to accept the fact that your gonna lose a little clearance at the x-member. I, for one, don't mind it a bit!!

you will be fine running 31's and 33's i got a buddy with stock gears and 33's. and if you tilt your rear axle you wont have to get a sye or a tc drop. my buddy has 6.5 in lift with no sye or tc drop. he just has his axle tilted

By axle tilted I assume you mean shims. This is true that you can do that along with lengthening the original drive shaft to compensate for most lifts. My friend is running 10" of lift still running a slip yoke. I don't recommend doing that but it can be done.

i also have a friend whos got 7" lift with no sye and still running stock brakelines and tracbars. idk about the tc drop tho. but if youre a mechanic you make things work

also youll be fine with 31 to 33s and as far as another 2 inches for 4 total: go with grand cherokee v8 coilsprings in frontalong with the spacers and then do either aal and shackles or a bastard leaf pack and shackles. ive heard some guys do this who are real happy with the way it is and the little moola they spent
