4 speed manual

can i get a 5 speed tranny in place of a 4 speed? i got a 4 speed standard and i want one more gear!!! will a bolt up? can i just change the tranny and keep the bell housing? or do i need to change everything? i got a 87 2.5 4 cylinder thanks!!!

Yes, an AX5 should bolt right in. But make sure you don't have the Borg Warner T4. If you do, the T5 will bolt in its place.

You probably have the AX tranny, but I threw the other info in because I have never heard of anyone having an AX4. I have a T-4 in my shop so that is what spurred my thinking. The T-4 os more of a square pattern in the front of it.

the bell housing? is that what you mean?? cause if thats what your talking about im going to have to say it looked very square to me i just changed my starter and yup it looks square to me!! i could be wrong though!! do you happen to have a picture of both or a link??
