Use 4 low only when needed. Recovering stuck vehicles, crawling over rocks, needing to move really, really slowly.
I use 4hi when wheeling most of the time.
Its just a really low gear, and isn't always needed.

I always use 4low wheeling. Make sure you only put it in low at a stop in neutral it'll make a grinding noice if not

as a trail guide, i always encourage everyone to refrain from 2wd as it only promotes wheel spin, prematurely eroding the trail. use 4hi on level 1 and 2 trails and shift into 4 lo when it gets rough.
on level 3 and up, stay in 4lo.
also, don't forget to air down, you will be smoother and swifter off road. street pressure will make you and the rest all slow down.
