4 cylinder transmission..
i have a 96 cherokee 2 door 2 wheel drive with a standard 5 speed and i would really like to go automatic.. i plan on modifying to a 4x4 setup and it seems like a see a hell of alot more automatic transmission transfer case combos for sale.. my question is, what auto transmissions will work on the 2.5? what are the pros and cons to changing from standard to auto? will the transfer case from a cylinder automatic work on 4 cylinder 5 speed standard? any input would be appreciated.. thanks james

You can adapt about anything to it. I am planning (maybe) a TH350 onto the back of my 4.0 and using the stock t-case. I do believe that the 4.0 has the same bolt pattern as the 4 banger

they AW4 will be the automatic you would want to get if ur going for a complete bolt in kind of deal. you would also have to grab the TCM and maybe the PCM because shift points are controlled by the computer, but it would bolt right up with no problem
