Default 4.7 V8 in a 99 XJ

Has anyone swapped a 4.7 V8 out of a WJ or ZJ into a 99 XJ?

I don't have any info about the swap... but you might check out this article.

Great article. It brings up some very valid points. So much work for a so little hp gain.

Personally, I would just put another 4.0 in it, but if you must have a V8, and wanted to stay Jeep sourced... the 4.7HO is a nice mill... 270hp/330tq and smooth as silk... moves my 4200lb WJ rather briskly.

And, the I6 4.0 makes 195hp/230tq... a gain of 75hp and 100tq out of a light, free reving V8 is not too shabby.

My opinion.

The 5.2L & 5.9L V8's are narrower than the 4.7L V8 and would therefore be an easier fit IMO.

A SBC would be the best bet if you really want a V8 the 5.2,5.9 being the next choice. I personally wanted to do the SBC but with time being very limited these days Im going the stroker route, if you have the time/money/skills then take a look at this site http://www.novak-adapt.com/ It will give you an idea of the swaps that are supported. Hope This Helps

thanks guys for the input, Im jus getting ideas to do something different, it actually wont be going into a 99 xj but my 89 mj, but Im doing an OBD2 swap on my MJ but I dont have a motor yet, so jus getting ideas right now, 5.2 or 5.9 would be nice, I was just thinking the 4.7 would be smaller and easier to fit
