Bump steer has nothing to do with a steering stabilizer. It's related to increased angles of the control arms.
although increased angles are the problem, it has nothing to do with the control arms. heres part of it but the whole article can be viewed here, http://www.naxja.org/html/techarticl...psteertech.htm.... The cause is the axle tilt, due to the tire hitting a bump, changing the length between the axle draglink mount on a spindle and the pitman arm on the steering box. During a compression bump this length is reduced and the spindle must rotate (steer) to accommodate the draglink length, or we have to design in something to keep the axle nearly the same distance from the frame at the steering box -- a pan hard rod or track bar.

This is what I did partner. I got the 4.5 in lift springs from Rusty's, 99 bucks. Some 4x4 s-10 leafs to make a bastard pack (search "bastard pack") I traded some heim joints I found in a dumpster for them so FREE for ME! and get a control arm drop kit from rough country, 190 bucks. You get true 4.5 lift without any shackles or spacers. Its all spring so you can always go higher with the shackles and spacers if you want. Oh I got bumpstops, u bolts and leaf spring pins from rusty's too to complete the whole thing. I end up spending 200 bones at rusty's with shipping I think. 200 bones for the control arm drop kit and I guess you can get a set of leafs from the junkyard for less then 50 bucks. THats 450 bucks for a heavy duty lift! My point being I have a great place to start from if I wanna go a little higher.

Adding a lift changes the angles of the control arms, the higher you go the more pronounced the angles. I agree the controls arms themselves are not the root cause, changing their angle as well as all other related angles is the problem. Hence one reason for long arm suspensions. You do understand their design correct?

Ed article is niclely done .

Reviewing our general posts..

I believe both of my general comments fall in-line with Ed's article.
However, I faill to see where fixing bump steer has anything to do with replacing a stabalizer?

Or did I miss something?

I personally am not a fan of using spacers to increase lift.

New lift coils are cheap enough
