The propeller in the Water Pump is rubbing up against the Water Pump housing.....before too long I would imagine that's wearing away at the propeller as well...so you might (or might have already) noticed a decrease in cooling performance due to this.

When you change out that Water Pump, I would highly recommend doing a thorough coolant flush on the system, to get all of the metal shavings out of there.
