Default 4.0L Header vs Manifold

Who all has swapped the stock manifold for a performance header? Which Company did you go with and did you notice any difference in performance? What is cost you?

What is cost you? IIRC, The APN Header costs about $150 including shipping. Very good quality. I love mine.

Now don't get me wrong; the Banks $400 headers and others like it have their benefits, usually by replacing a portion of the downpipe where the factory dent is. But I was on a budget, and even then I was happy with the APN header.

im on the same budget, well actually not so much a budget rather than, i cant bring myself to buy a $400+ header for a straight 6....lol. But being as its my DD and my weekend warrior, would like to get a little more performance out of it without breaking the bank. Besides, I got big doubts the additional $200+ would be noticed on a stock knocker.

You mean my new APN? No sir, none. They build these things like nobody's buisness, and back them with a lifetime warranty. However, yes the stock manifolds crack nearly 100% of the time, but the new OEM replacements (actually a little more expensive than the APN) have flex points welded into the 1st and 6th runners. My manifold was cracked at the collecter nearly 3/4 way around and nearly all the way around the sixth runner. Check out my build or my how to for pics of the crack.

Ok, that makes me feel a whole lot better.

http://www.ineedparts.com/auto-parts...-manifold.html

I guess the price went up a little bit though... Seems like everything has lately. Look for a coupon code or something.

Any leaking issues? Just seems like they would want to leak as there are only 2 bolt locations...am I missing something here?

I mean, when I swapped out my headers on my Chevelle, there were 4 bolt holes for each side, so a total of 8 holes for a V8...were as this straight 6 only has 2 bolt holes? I gotta be missing something here...

Where they mount to the head or the downpipe?

Iirc the exhaust and intake share studs in the head.

Nt downpipe attaches with two bolts on the header. Seals fine.

Anyone got any info on a Renix header replacement?

I rock an APN and never had problems with it. When I did crack it being stupid, the company sent me a new one, no questions asked, with a return postage for the one on my vehicle.

One thing: bottom bolts in the middle are a pain to reach
