Default 4.0 stroker?

Has anyone ever used the 258 crank and rods to stroke there 4.0? I have a reconditioned 258 crank and I purchased a set of used rods off of ebay tonight. I was under the impression that I can use the stock type pistons of course I will be punching 60 over, maybe 30 depending on the feed back from here. I won't overbore if it will give the risk of overheating "these motors like to run hot as it is.

There are plenty of people that have done this. I was doing some research on google and jeepstrokers.com and theres a lot of great info there. I personally think .060 over is too much, I would just go .030 over for the 4.6L "rock crawler" stroker. Here's a lot of good info https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/strokers-15710/ . With that setup, you can still use 87 octane.

I meant stock type as far as the wrist pin location & compression ratio, Ya should have worded it differently.

because you will get more performance out of it...i would only do a stock Low Compression Stroker if i was going to boost it. Other wise i would bump it up to 10:1 or 11:1

I know increasing compression will increase performance, but he would also have to run premium fuel or possibly ocatane boost over 10.5:1, he could run regular but will have some detonation issues.By running a slightly lower compression ratio in his stroker he can still take advantage of the hp/torque gains and maintain his reliability.....and save a little on gas
