My 92 4.0 started stalling yesterday, but it is very weird. It stalls if it is warm or cold but when I restart it it starts right back up and holds idle until I actually drive it. I just replaced the exhaust from the catback with a gibson unit and the cat with an aftermarket unit about a month ago. The only other mods so far are a 3 core brass radiator I put in two years ago. Please help I love my Cherokee.

 

this happens quite often with the 4.0. First thing I would change is the ignition module. Its a 20-25 dollar part and 90 percent of the time is the cause for the random stalling. I had the same exact problem in my old cj7 and it fixed it

at the risk of sounding dumb, could this problem be linked to my speedo in any way? it stopped working when the stalling problem started and then yesterday the speedo started working again and the stalling stopped. I'm sure this theory is completely out of whack because my speedo is mechanical(i think).
