Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Engine: 4.0L
4.0 liter valve train
I've got a 96 4.0 liter engine. Question is this an interference engine or not. Reason is, I think my I jumped time; and all my intake push tubes are in the shape of an S. Also my rotor is about a 1/4 inch away from #1 terminal on my distributor at TDC. I hope my valves are ok. We will see.

I don't think I've ever seen a pushrod engine that was an interference engine.
That being said, I did bend the valves in a 79 F150 302 when it jumped time, but I was stuck in the mud and would still start but ran like crap and I abused it like that.

I had a 77 F-150 miss that ole truck. I think I just found out what was going on. Intake valves sticking wadding up my pushrods. look at my other post for details.
