Alright, so just recently, ive been having problems with my 97 Cherokee se idling. when the engine is cold and i start it, it begins to idle high, then it idles reall low(almost stalling) then idles high again, and it does this over and over within a min. And if i put it into gear it will lunge forward a little bit and stall. But if i turn the key off and back on again, it will run fine... Ive recently replaced the cap, rotor, and sparkplugs trying to fix it, and withing the last year ive replaced the cat,02 sensors,iac, and had the injectors cleaned. Ive checked it with a obd2 reader and it said everythings fine. The engine has 128,xxx miles on it. Any help would be much apreciated

 

Id be willing to bet if you pulled your IAC (Idle air control) and cleaned it off it would fix it. Mine did the same thing. Its a 30 minute fix, clean it with a carb cleaner wipe if off and put it back in. It plugs in near the TB and is held in by 2 torx bolts.

 

alright, ill have to try that when i get home. Would you happen to know what would make it stick? when i first got my jeep i had to take the iac off and clean it, then it got stuck again so i replaced it(about 6 months ago).

 

It could have gotten damaged some how, you may wanna make sure its super clean, ive heard the TPS can do the same thing.. may wanna check it.
