Default whining noise?

Hearing a whining noise from the distributor. Sounds like a belt noise. Replaced the cap and rotor because they were worn but it still makes that noise. Can my distributor be going bad? Or the pick up coil?

Default Identifying Noise

I am having a noise too which I thought was coming from the a/c or alternator but was told today that it could possible be the distributor. Was the noise obviously from the distributor?

Mine is the the basic vicinity on the right hand side of the engine. Mechanic told me we'd have to start replacing parts until the noise went away. I guess I could take the belt off and see if I get the noise without the pulleys turning but I'd rather not if I can avoid it.

Any info would be helpful.
