I'm aware of the sye... I have been going back n forth between kits. I looked thru all the 4.5 kits on the market pretty much. The price difference is just crazy. I am most likely going to go with a 4.5 but I'm not sure on the short or long arm. Is a short arm really that bad as far as ride comfort n such? I know the flex is way better.

The big difference in price between them comes in play because of the parts, most 3inch are add a leafs and spacers, most 4.5 are replacing the arms ,cross member , etc
I prefer la, much like the lift, might as well spend 200$ more now than be dissapointed later haha, but 4.5 la, will be more than capable and have a good looking stance, honestly for what you get 4.5 is worth it over a 3

You could always piece together a lift kit, In most cases you will end up spending less money than you would have if you bought the kit.
I'm currently putting together a Rubicon Express 3.5" lift for my XJ. So far I am into it $375 and I need to get my Shocks to complete the lift it which will run me another $300 for the Bilstein 5100's .
Check out my Build Thread you'll see all the components I got for $375

Ok. I'll do this. I have $3500 saved up to buy a lift, Wheels, And tires... Now what would you do? I'll say I want a 4.5 but I'm curious what everyone else would do if they were starting a lift project and had my price limit (If anyone is a mechanic. How much do you think labor would be to have it all installed as well...I don't have the resources or place to do it myself so.)

Hmm 3500? If your having a shop do this and they can weld I would say rock krawler 4.5 3 link, should be in your budget, if not Rubicon express would be my main stream lift company to turn to, bds 4 link is about 3000$ even but is the best apparently on the market,
Also I just remember clayton makes a 4.5 la " don't know the price off hand but I would reccomend them

I'm gonna try n stay around 4.5. So the iro5.5 is a little to much. Its My dd and I can't afford new gears right now to compensate for the 32 n up tire sizes... But keep me coming
If I gave you 3500$ to start a lift project on a stock height 01 xj. What kit ( or even piece by piece) would you use.
Also tires/ wheels are coming outta that 3500.
Labor ill have to save more anyways.
Sucks not being mechanically inclined/ not having a place to do the work even if I was
