im pretty new to jeeps and i havent done anything to mine accept try to get some of the mechanical problems under control. but i am interested in putting a 3inch lift eventually. my jeep is my daily transportation and i was just wondering which would be better, the 3inch spacers with new shocks and rear shackles or a 3inch lift with the new coils, shocks and an add a leaf? thanks guys.

 

I use mine as a DD as well with a 3" lift, I like it and don't think it's too much, i mean, look at a merc G-wagon, even a Liberty is about the same hight as my lifted height..

As far as lifts go, from what I understand the best option is the RC with new leafs, forget spacers or blocks, do it right

 

i have a 3 inch pro comp lift and it came with new coils and an add a leaf but the add didnt really help any and started sagging within like 2 months. so i bought some rough country leaf springs and put a 1.5 inch tereflex shackle on it and i run it as my daily driver. you will also need a T-case drop kit (1 inch) i run it as my daily driver on 31's

 

the back sits about an inch higher than the front but i like it that way.

 

so i shouldnt do the add a leaf, instead get whole new leafs? i had heard good things about the RC add a leaf package, thats why i ask.

 

i dont know about the RC lift but i would get new leafs and put a bigger shackle. imo

 

RC lift is sweet. i have the 4.5 on my DD and wouldnt have it any other way. except lately i have wanted to go bigger.

 

X2 ^. OP, you might want to consider a bigger kit... you'll only feel like you're a big dog for about a day or so.

 

Ya I had a question about that. If I got the 3" lift kit with shocks. Eventually I added 2" shackle/spacers. Would the shocks still work? I know I would need a t case drop and brake line extensions. But would I have to replace shocks?

 

Coils, shocks, and springs are the best way to go for a DD mainly because it is harder to tell when there is inspections if texas does them that is. If I had spacers on mine they would fail it because they've said it's not safe for road use. Happened to a buddy of mine that has a TJ. He had 1.5" spacers on it and it failed for it. But the coils are going to much more forgiving than the spacers are.

 

i would go with the Rough Country 3" Series II kit with full packs, you get everything you need.....you can easily fit 31's

you may eventually decide to go bigger but you can do that easy enough with spacers and shackles......but beware going to 4" + requires more than just the lift, you will have to address steering, brakelines, SYE, trackbar etc.

do the 3" for now and see if you really need to go bigger

 

Its the same on my Rubicon Express 3.5

and my XJ is my dd also and its great, especially here in NM where all the roads feel like the rumble strips on the shoulders of the highway

 

I have about 3.5" on my dd and I love it but like t1320t said you will only feel big for a little bit. lol But I would go with New coils and at at least an aal. I have RC shackels and an aal and then resprung and Rubicon springs up font. I would say try and stay away from blocks but I know people who run them and they have for years with no problem on there dd.

If you just do the 3in RC you shouldnt have to worry about anything else. I did the 3in RC with the aal and its been on there for over a year and no sag at all and i didnt have to worry about anything else. Im running 31x10.5 daily and sometimes i through on my 33x12.5 and run them and i have no problems. But i do want to go bigger just becasue all my buddies jeeps and trucks are bigger. They say more than 4in you have to worry about doin other things.
