If i were to buy a '90 xj with 355,000 miles on it, is there anything specific i should check?

 

Rust, leaks, unibody.

tie rods, ball joints, new leafs, shackles and spacers. the body is straight. but i guess is there anything specific to check in the transfer case or the engine?

im told it does not leak oil but its winter time..

You might want to see how much it will cost you to replace the engine. You don't know what the po has and hasn't done to it.

 

i just need it to last until the summer TBH. then i can worry about an engine swap. i kind of assumed that, if it hit 355k, it must be somewhat ok. It looks just like The Roosters cherokee.

 

A lot of Renix jeep last to that mileage with regular matience So just make sure it has good oil pressure with a mech gauge and take it for a drive make sure it is completely warm to check oil pressure

for some reason i never thought of that perfect acronym. AMC rocks. ive been working on getting a kammback.

its been almost a year since i sold my xj :O

 

well the guy ended up selling while i was on my way to see it. If all goes well ill be picking up another xj from a fellow CF member.
