Hi guys, I just bought a xj w/a 3" pro comp lift. I believe it's a coil spacer and a AAL. I know I want to go w/33x10.50s. I don't want to trim my fenders and want to lift as little as possible, but enough to stuff (reason I'm going w/10.50s). Can you guys help me w/suggestions on what I need to do?
I have been searching the forum, but have not quite found the answers. Thanks.

I think it is about your priorities. What is more important of the three options: little lift, 33's, or no trimming?
Also, what kind of use will this vehicle do? If you're wanting full articulation or to make a U turn, you may have to make some sacrifices.

you will need to trim some to stuff a 33 no matter what you do. and just like the saying goes. you can have cheap easy or done right. but you can only have 2. well that is the same thing you are at right now. either not much lift and trimming or lots of lift and not being able to stuff a 33. the plan you have is ok. but you need to realize that it may not work exactly as planned. and make a small change in either tire size lift size or if you want to trim or not. now you can runn a bushwacker flare and still have a pretty clean look or just trimm a little and it will look clean if you dont get to crazy.

Thanks for the replies guys. Well I'd like to keep the look as stock as possible, that's one thing. And more important than going w/the higher lift/bigger tires. I just didn't want to spend twice on tires, but I know if I trim, I can't go back. I thought if I lifted 2" more, I could go w/33x10.50s and no trimming. Is it possible to trim a little and still put the stock flares back on?
So my options are:
1) Leave as is and buy some 31s. I am planning on adding sliders and a rear lunchbox locker, so should be pretty capable right? I have a few friends w/monster XJs running on 36s so I have nothing to compare to as far as a capable XJ on 31s.
2) Leave lift as is, trim a good amount and buy the 33s. I'd like to lift as little as possible so that's a possibility. What size lift is when things start feeling tippy?
3) Lift 2" more. And put on 33s. Trim as little as possible. May still be able to use stock flares?
Does that sound about right?
Anything you guys would do different? I do know 33s should/would require a regear.
Thanks

Dude even on 31's with a 3in lift you will need to trim. They will RUB
You could bump stop the heck out of it and avoid some rubbin but then you won't flex very well.
I have 30's and 3in lift and they tuck in perfect and only rub at a full flex but not bad enough to do any damage I just hear it a lil.

Go with option 2. As long as you don't drive your jeep like you're racing it, "tippyness" shouldn't be too much of a problem. And honestly, trimming looks pretty good when done slowly and correctly.

94xjstud, here's my intro https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f8/just-bought-cherokee-18607/
Hmmm.. well that sucks, I thought w/my current lift I could get away w/31s at least. I am thinking I am just going to have to trim anyway.
Might as well do the 33s and cut til it works.

Ok man. If you go 33's you will have to trim period. If you have never done this before and care about how your cherokee "mall parking lot" rig is going to look, then don't do it. If you run 33's, you will need to re-gear period. If you have never done this before, good luck to you. It sounds to me that you can give a crap how it performs off road and just want it to look cool. Just run with 31's or maybe 32's with another inch and a half of lift. I'm not trying to be a dick, just keeping it real.
if you have an automatic you can get away without regearing, i did im runnin 33x10.50x15 with a 4.5 inch lift, i had to trim some but not too much. my torque converter makes up for some of the lost power but it woud be nice to regear

The 3" lift and 31's has alot to do with wheels. if you have stockers you might not rub. But I'm on 3" with 31's on a 4" back space wheel and I'm starting to look into a BB to get it up a bit more..

Well my buddy and I removed the sway bars and put the jeep on some test ramps. 31s are definitely going to rub. I'm going to lift the jeep 2" more, and trim little by little while still trying to keep the stock flares, (cuz you know, I'm building a cool mall crawler
). I'll keep trimming until I can't re-attach the stock flares, then I'll just cut away. Will get some pics as soon as I get parts.
Thanks everyone
