Default 33"s on 3" lift

Can i fit 33" tires on a 3" lift for a 96 cherokee sport? Also, is this vehicle only part-time 4x4? My friend has a 01 f-150 and he keeps talking trash about the jeeps 4x4.

you can fit 33's if you trim and use bumpstops. The part time means it can only be used part time as in not on pavement. You have full 4WD not to worry.

tell your buddy god luck getting his truck on a narrow trail

You can fit 33s with a 3" lift but, it will require MUCH fender trimming to keep the tires from rubbing. A 4 - 4.5" lift is (with minor trimming) would be better...and if your state has the nice (no rubber outside the flares, law) like mine does, you'll still be legal without having to buy the $400+ monster Bushwacker Flares. If you're in a state that doesn't have that law then you're good either way. How you make your 33s fit is a matter of personal preference and what you'll be using your XJ for...I.E. DD driver/Weekend Warrior or just off road. Rock crawling, mud bogging or dune blasting. There are guys on here who have great ideas to make your fender cutting look good so, talk to them before getting out the sawsall, dremel or tin snips.

a bumpstop is basicly what the name inplys it stops from the spring compressing so the tire stays out of the wheel well therefore it wont rub.

I wouldnt recomend this if your flexing a lot. But if your mainly running in mud go for it

Even when he correctly bumpstops for 3" of lift, he will still have plenty of droop is he has the right shocks. Get long enough shocks so that your shortarms become the limiter for the axle droop and adjust your brakelines accordingly.

See, even my coil became unseated. Longer shocks, extended brakelines and PLENTY of trimming, and you'll be able to flex just fine with 33s on 3" of lift.

But then again I'm locked front and rear so a little bit of tirelifting doesn't bother me.
