Default 32's vs 31's

Will switching to 31's make any difference in highway mileage? I plan on taking my Jeep up to visit my parents but its roughly 500 miles one way and with the 32's I get crap mileage. I have a set of stockers with some 30's on them so I might just put them on for the drive up.

every size smaller with give you better gas mileage. make sure their properly inflated though. a lighter wheel will give u better mileage too, aluminum is usually best. steel wheels weigh too much. 30's will give u a little better than the 32's. what tire is the 30? what tire is the 32?

32's are a BFG AT and the 30's are a General Grabber AT I believe. I need new tires as the 32's are pretty worn so I am probably just going to replace them and put the 30's on for when I need to make long trips. The 32's can go in the back and I'll swap them when I get up there. Seems like the most logical way to go.

what size lift do you have? i have a 3 inch on my XJ and i had a set of retread 30'' tires with junk wheels on them and put them on my jeep to see how they would look and they looked terrible compared to the 31 bfg A/T i'm running. If your going to buy some, i recommend the BGF A/T im running 31x10.50 r15. they have 30,000 miles on them and still have 60% tread left. i drive them pretty aggressively too......

I have a 4.5" lift. 32's fit great but they are not the best for gas mileage which I am only concerned about for the long trips. Like I said I will probably put the 30's on for that and switch them back over once I'm up there. 31's will look too small in my opinion. Here is my heap with 32's, if I go smaller it will look bad I think
