You should be fine. I ran 31's for about 2 1/2 years with stock gears an d I am still running them with my 32's til' I can regear. I had no problems with the 31's and stock gears.

i run 31s and still have stock 3.55 gears. the only time i see problems is when i get in some real loose sand like a creek bottom or a sandy incline you have to get a pretty good run at it get the tires to spin good. i could use a regear but im really hard on my rig and it hardly ever breaks.

Stock gears will have there draw backs anytime you go to a larger tire. You will lose some power and not be able to go as fast and you could break if you wheeled it too hard. But I think you will be fine. I would go to 4.10's when you get some extra cash though.

stock gearing for 31's is fine, thats what i run. and there are steep hills everywhere here. if you go any higher than say 3.55 with 31's you'll end up topping out at like 50-60 on the highway, you'd be a stoplight assassin though. most people don't re-gear until about 33's. sometimes 32's.

had 3.55's with 31" mtrs...worked well, even did a rolling burnout one time haha. ive got 33's on the way and 4.56 (slightly deeper ratio than stock) gears...that will be going in once i get done ordering all my lift parts.

no problem cruising on the highway at 70 or 75.
