i took out the floor bracket, and the pin thing thats holds the stock tire, and leaned it as close to the window and as straight up and down as i could, and just used like 3 bungee cords. put one around the rim and through the hole thats there, then wrap another one around the tire itself. i've been meaning to just use a ratchet strap, but just haven't. i tried many different ways with the bungees b/c at first if i would turn sharply the tire would flop over, now its fine. just go out there with a few bungee cords and play around a little and see what you come up with. thats all i did.

yea but i took my back seat out and folded the other part flat. so i have plenty of room back there. i keep my four-way lug wrench under my spare thats laying flat in the cargo area and my strap back there. i still have a good bit of room- but no backseat since i took it out. im used to not having one
Here is an article on mounting a full size in the rear...Takes some work but Im about to try this out, the tire on the roof is killing my mileage and adding a ton of drag...

I wouldn't rely on bungee cords, if you rolled they will break and you can share the nightmare of rolling with a full size tire bouncing around in the cabin with you....not good!! Just though I'd mention that. I used ratcheting tie downs to secure my spare when I kept inside the XJ. I had a 31' tied down in near the stock location and it fit fine. I'd pulled all of the stock brackets and what not out of the way though.

i'm seriously looking into Detours Tailbone system, of course, depending on price point.

Guess I'll be checking into that after the first of the year.

That is incredibly sexy, the good thing I see right off the bat is that the spare stays behind the driver allowing for more rear view...this is in opposition to the majority of the other bumper carriers that tend to block the entire rear view...for those of us running 33's or smaller this looks incredibly friendly...Im guessing its going to run around the 500 mark...

From a NAXJA post, it'll run about $375 or so. Do note that it utilizes the factory rear bumper and a hitch isn't incorporated into it. It is pictured with a Hidden Hitch. The cool thing is that he's about an hour from me, so no shipping charges for me!!
