i plan on gettin some 30's for my xj, i need new tires before this winter before i can afford a lift. manin question, will 30/9.50xr15 wheels fit on the stock height or will i have to worry about rubbing???

you shouldnt rub at all, if you do itll be at full turn, but youll be ok. If your really worried just through in a one inch block and one spacer for cheap

what do you plan on doing? BFG at's seem to be a good all around choice.

 

the occassional offroad trip but mainly highway due to the fact its my everyday driver, i was thinkin some bfg at's but i heard bad reviews on them from a couple ppl who actually work at discount tire...

i have a bone stock 2wd 01 4.0 sport with 30x9.5 BFG AT's and they wont rub at all if you use the stock wheels. You wont rub at all even at full lock. But i have the same set up as you. mainly highway with occasional dirt playtime. The only thing i dont like bout the BFG AT's is mud mainly. they just suck major *****. I live in Phoenix where it never rains and when it does i play. just like today. they provide very little traction in mud expecially up hills. I tried to get up one but couldnt get up started to slide back and sideways and the wheels were thrown into full lock. now for some reason they rub on the LCA. as long as there isnt too much mud you'll be fine, but if everything is soaked it'll be a pain, but other then that they're ok.

i had the bfg AT's and i wasnt a fan of them. they packed with mud and snow. The General Grabbers AT's are much better, cheaper, and comes with a 60k mile warrenty. something the bfg dont offer.

 

i had 30x9.50 Goodyear wranglers mt/r on stock height for a while and they rubbed. i would suggest the Goodyear wrangler duratrac tire its an aggressive all terain tire

 

I'm running 30x9.5's on stock height with factory rims and I don't have any problems rubbing. You do have problems with flexing though... I rub the insides of my wheel wells when I do anything that makes it flex.

BFG AT's are great tires for everything. Sure, they're not mud boggers (but you're buying AT's, not boggers)... but they're decent in mud, great in snow and great for year round trail riding.
