Should I buy black or red shoes...point being, do some research, make a valid choice, either way, get that DW cured first. What are your plans for the XJ, what size tires you hoping to run? When was the last allignment

Ha..done plenty of research brotha..a 4 in seems like it would be easier to bust up compared to the 3 in BC of more parts to break says the Offroad shop..ill be running some 31s..its my daily driver..

Go with the 3 inch lift. If you dont have big plans for offroad stick with the 3". If you have the NP242 you will probably have to do a SYE and DS replacement. Try replacing the steering stabilizer also it could be worn out and time for a new one.

3" doesn't typically require any extra parts or relocations. If you go bigger than 3, you may have to address issues such as tcase/diff alignment, brake line upgrades, etc.
BDS makes a great 3" lift, I've got one.
Check all your bushings, ball joints, steering parts (tie rods, too), trac bar, etc. You will probably want to do this before a lift install so you don't make it more difficult to diagnose.
