im looking at a 1999 sport cherokee 4x4 auto on craigslist and he says it has a v6 3.0??? i have never heard of that is there any ever made with a 3.0??

 

He probably just has no idea what he has

ya im guessing he has no clue also but its not a grand i seen one picture of the body its got around 170,000 miles only thing wrong is bad crank sensor and gauges dont work? hes only asking 1100 it looks real clean.

 

He doesn't know what engine he has and yet, knows exactly which sensor is the problem? Sounds fishy to me... I dunno. I'd call the dude up and see if he knows what he's talking about

 

he said a mechanic looked at it but idk its not far from me so ill take a look at it and see. I know lots of people call the 4.0 a v6 but not v6 3.0 so ill find out when I look under the hood?

i looked at a 1993 xj w/ 85k miles & like new $2300 .. got there: OD read 228k + body was horrible .. wrecked .. horrid .. front end was smashed in to boot

horrid condition .. seller changed his ad after i told him what a POS he had .. he lowered it to 1500 for me .. i tried not to laugh .. I woulda gave him $10

trust what you see / inspect ..not words

 

Yep. So take a look at it nice and closely. Call him out on not knowing anything and then use that to your advantage when bargaining

 

ya i hear ya i looked at a 87 comanche today with 4 speed and a 4 banger but on the phone he never told me that it had a dent that was rusted out about the size of a baskettball behind the door and the whole other side of the truck had looked like it was drug down the road on its side, also was about 2 quarts low im guessin pos.

my new ride .. knocked it down $750 off the bat .. front end work I caught instantly

body was too nice, I couldnt resist

motor def a rebuild/newer.. ac / egr was not re-installed .. old lines were present .. motor / interior super clean

then, i got reimbursed 2/3 of new exhaust since wouldnt pass emission,, good guy at least .. not many people would send money on an "as is" deal

as of now I could have found alot more wrong with it .. but as of passed emissions, its all mine to deal with .. not too bad .. $2k purchase .. up to $3500 with tires



i squeaked by on the death trap balljoint .. scary .. if you can raise front end .. check for play in wheels .. could save alot of money.. esp.. if unsafe .. i have angels watching over me or something

 

and.. i wish I could relay the nasty cooling smell on my purchase .. all over the jeep / inside & out

smelly .. not coolant leaking, but plugged up nasty brown stuff cooking .. clooged heater core & partially clogged rad

as soon as cooling system got proper flush, new rad ... smell was gone asap .. was nastier than a dog food / horse meat rendering plant .. stank !!

keep your nose open to engine compartment / exhaust ... mines running rich a bit as i found when buying, but has no egr, could smell it

FYI .. proper cooling job was $365 .. small cheap shop .. big shop woulda been way more .. almost double at a chain run shop

 

Its probably a typo the 3 is next to the 4.

 

I believe all 99's had a 4.0 Seller doesn't have a clue, and the mechanic probably wants it for himself!!
