Default 2wd leaky tranny output and axle plug

I just replaced the rear output seal on my 01 2wd XK (Auto) and noticed after about 2 weeks its leaking again. When I had the slip yolk out I checked it pretty good and didn't see any burrs or funny scaring... any ideas why its leaking again? And there is a big aluminum collar that goes around it... whats that for and do I need it? And does anyone have the correct part number for that seal? The one I used came with the jeep, it had two different ones in boxes so I chose the one that actually fit. heehee! But i'm not sure its the right one as it was a little different than the one that came out.
I also noticed the rubber plug on my crap-tastic dana 35 is leaking pretty good. Is there a better solution to fix this other than just getting a new plug? I hate sinking any time or money into this as I have an 8.8 waiting to go in but I'm slow at gathering the parts for that. So I'd like some ideas how to make it stop for a few months if anyone has ideas? Thanks guys!

ive never seen a rubber plug that dont seep after a while could get older 35 cover with screw in plug probably use a gear lube change anyway. You got any lift installed causing drive shaft to be out more maybe causing leak ?

Thanks guys... The Jeep is bone stock, no lift (yet ) so I'm not sure if maybe the seal I used in the tranny was the wrong one maybe.
As for the plug... I'll have to see if I can just silicon it for now. I have to get it through inspection very soon and the Germans are hell on any leaks. Like I said, it will be getting swapped soon.
