4 door is easier to find. Usually in better shape. Plus the rear doors make it easier to get things in and out of the back seat.... such as children. I can't see how a 2 door would have any more structure than the 4 door. Any size difference from losing 2 doors is made up with larger doors and bigger rear quarter glass...nether of which adds any structure.
IMO a 2 door XJ is cool to look at but I don't think I could live with it every day. With a 4 door daily driver I've never thought to myself... man I wish I didn't have 4 doors. But every 2 door daily driver I've ever owned I wish I had 2 more doors.

i like 2 doors for the looks and the bigger doors plus they feel bigger up front to me. now finding one in decent shape with a stick is another matter altogether.....

4 door are stiffer because of the extra pillar, but 2 doors are so much secure. I know I have one. The main down falls of 2 doors have already been hit, doors are heavier so more prone to sagging and parts are a ***** to find. Door seals, window seals, interior panels, and if you find one at the jy all those have been stripped already.
