Hey guys,

Is there any way to tell by looking at a Chrysler 8.25 if it's a 27 or 29 spline, without taking it apart? I'm curious as to what is on my '93. It had a 27-spline from the factory, but the entire rear axle assembly was replaced at the dealership at the end of '96 at 76,100 miles (so during the '97 model year, where they switched over). I'm hopeful that they slapped a 29-spline under her, although I know that's not very likely.

God I love having a Jeep with documentation.

 

There is no visual difference, so somebody could have swapped in another 27 or a early 29.

 

X2 on no visual difference but usually the 96 and up are 29 spline I think...Tj

 

Was afraid of that.

 

My '96 has 27 spline axles....
