Hey guys. I have a 2000 xj with a 242 t-case and I have a 98 xj with a 231. I have the 98 for sale and was thinking that i would really like a 231 in my 2000. Is it as simple as just swapping them out- driveshafts/mounts etc. Want to do asap. thank you

How does that justify staying with 242?
No, it is better to use part time offroad.

yea i always use part- time. I do not plan on ever using this as a daily driver after it is built... at least not in the snow-that was the only good use for full time that i have found

It costs more upfront, but you get most of the difference back in the core charge refund. However, you can't get a HD SYE kit for the 242, whereas you can for the 231. There isn't much of a difference though, just the spline shaft has to be set up differently, and that is why they do it for you, unless you want to do the Hack-n-Tap kit.
