I found a really good deal on a '94 AX15 out of an XJ for my 2wd to 4wd MJ project, but the owner no longer has the transfer case.
I know it has to have the 23 spline input shaft.
I have found the following info regarding the 231 cases with the 23 spline input shaft:
short input shaft: '94 & earlier w/AX15
long input shaft: '95 & later w/AX15 or NV3550
medium input shaft: '91 & later w/AW4
My question is this:
My trans would have come with a short input shaft, but would it be ok to use either the medium or long input shaft?
Since it seems like most XJ's are autos w/the AW4, I think it would pretty easy to pick a medium length input spline transfer case.
Any info would be appreciated.
I called to ask the guys at Novak Conversions, but the fellow who answered the phone told me it was not a good use of his time to answer my question. I'm not one to bash suppliers, but I felt it was pretty rude, especially since I was going to order one of their t-case shifters. Anyway, from what I have read after the fact, I think I'm better off without their shifter, anyway.
