I am soon going to have a set of almost-new 225/75R16 tires from an upgrade to my new JK. Can I put these on my unmodified/stock 96 Cherokee, which currently has 225/75R15's? New wheels required?

Different Rim size. you cant mount a 16 in tire on a 15 rim.

OK, so if I put these on suitable rims, then are there any issues? Clearance/handling? Thanks.

They will be fine. No mods needed you will need different wheels though.

225/75/15 = 8.9" wide & 28.3" Tall

225/75/16 = 8.9" wide & 29.3" tall

So your tires will be 1/2" taller
