I have a 89 xj with the peugeot trans and a np231. I read somewhere that some late 89 peugeot's were 23 spline. Is there anny truth to that and if it is true is there any way to verify the spline count without actually pulling the case off of the traans?

Also, when I go to the jy to pull an ax15 is there any difference between the ones hooked to a np242 instead of the np231?

Yes, there is truth to that. Here is some good reading about the transmissions and t-cases.

Also, there shouldn't be a difference for the AX-15 as it has a 23 spline output for both t-cases.
