The other day, I had a local service shop place a new clutch fan on my vehicle (they stated it was locked). I have a 6cyl with the factory tow package, so I have an electric radiator fan (works well) and the belt driven fan.

The jeep sounds quite until I get above 2K rpm, then it begins to roar loudly, more so, as the RPMs increase, the sound coming from the metal fan area. It immediately quiets down when I drop the RPMs below 2K.

Is it possible that they installed the fan or clutch fan backwards? The fan seems to run true. Also, no loss in performance or slipping transmission (automatic).

Sounds like the new clutch is pretty aggressive. Some of the aftermarkets are that way.
Can you spin the fan by hand with the engine off? If so I wouldn't worry about it. I have my fan clutch locked on purpose. It's a bit noisier but it stays right around 190-200 deg even stuck in traffic in August
