The turn signals on my 01 stopped working but the flashers still work. I got a new signal switch and the turn signals still did not work.
Do the flashers and the turns use the same relay?
I read this but I cant figure out how to get the relay down like they did. Does anyone have any pointers?

I got the relay out finally. I went to O'reilly and picked up a relay for 14 bucks. YESSS I have turn signals now!!!!

My relay wont hang down like the guide. I had to unwrap all of the tape and foam around it and then I was able to yank it out.

1. The turn signals and flashers use the same relay.
2. Change the relay first before changing the switch (unlike me). It will save you a lot of time.

I have almost the same problem, but my left turn signal is the only one that malfunctions. Sometimes it works fine other times I can hear the flasher clicking but have no turn signal. I replaced my flasher but still have the same problem. Time for a new lever assembly?

sometimes, its just the relay because i had taken mine apart and it was making a clicking noise without anything moving, but when you turn the turn signal on, a piece actually moves to makes the noise.

but who knows, has to either be relay or turn signal?

mine is only doing it every now and then, sometimes hardly at all.

there are videos on how to clean the relay, because sometimes they get corroded, maybe you should check it out 1st

My 01 the flasher will decide to stay on, no flashing just on, left or right, it will then work, comes and goes with changed in temp? It will stay on on one side and not the other or both lol.. I can disingage it and it will work, click then get stuck.. Happens once a month..! Here is what I did so far:

Well I removed the Switch assembly from my 2001 taking apart the steering column knee plate and all that. I removed the multipurpose lever flasher, hazard, high beam unit from the column and took it apart! WOW what a biaaatch to get back together.. I cleaned it all out, regreased etc.. I suggest DO NOT take it apart it will pop all over the place.. took me hours to get it together again but I did it.. and it did not fix the problem

So same problem.. Where is that relay located? Haynes says under the steering column?? Or is it in the big fuse box under the hood??

Weird.. Watching this post I need to fix this asap..

I also took that switch apart and it took me a while to put that sob back together lol.
I dont know if you figured this out but if you look at this link it will tell you how to do it. If your jeep is like mine the relay wont hang down like the guide shows. Just unwrap the foam/tape from around the realy and yank that biatch out!

turn signals
I also had issues with the turn signals. 1999 XJ. Sometimes they worked and other times not. First thing to do is check all the bulbs. If one is out it can cause the flasher to malfunction. I had one bad bulb but still the problem was there. The flasher relay is under the dash by your left knee, right behind the OBD2 connector plug. remove the plastic panel under the steering wheel and the metal panel under the plastic one. There are a couple of screws on the bottom of the plastic panel then you pry the top of it out , the top of the plastic panel is secured by clips. Look up to your left behind the obd2 plug you will see a square plastic relay approx 1"x1"x1". The original mopar one is grey in color and mine had some kind of foam wrapped around it. . Its hard to get your hands in there, I pried the relay with a small screwdriver to get it started, then pulled it out. I got a new relay from autozone for 18 bucks, beware some autoparts stores want $38 for it. Youtube has a video how to do it. Works fine now.
