Default 2001 XJ Compatiability with 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo?

I have 2001 XJ, and I've been offered to buy a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo. What parts from the Laredo are compatible with my XJ? More specifically is the cylinder head compatible?

Yes the head is but you probably don't want it anyway. Thinking '99 and up GC's are coil bar ones. Thinking '99 to the middle, or so, of '02 are still 0331 heads. Just like what you have on your XJ. Thinking this also applies to TJ's. Also pretty sure that block won't work in a XJ. Something about motor mounts, pulleys, and where things like the alt attach are different. Now if it was a TUPY head, meaning a mid '02 to '04 GC, then it would be better.

About $500 for a Clearwater head with new valves. How much for the WJ? If your XJ has the oil filter on the vertical side of the block, that's the "Clean-side" block and will fit. If you look down the oil filler hole and see this, the head has already been replaced with a later "TUPY" head.

I'll look into the head. The WJ is $400, pretty decent overall except the front has been ripped apart The guy got it stuck and whoever helped him pull it out hooked it by the radiator mount and really screwed it up. Also the windshield and driver window need replacing. Could replace the radiator and all in the WJ with the one in my XJ? Are the transmission interchangeable?

The XJ and WJ share very little with each other. The XJ and ZJ share a bit but not much.

Depends on the engine/trans combination you have in either vehicle to know if they would be compatible or not and to the radiator .. no. The XJ is long and slender where the WJ is tall and narrow.

My 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo at 161000 miles had the infamous head crack that was due to the head having too thin of waterway passages. I did buy a Clearwater head for a bit over $400 bucks, that was shipped for free to Everett Washington. I had to ship the old head back which was also free. With new lifters/pushrods/gasket kit among other stuff I replaced had my service guy change out the head for a little over $750 bucks. So with the head and replacement cost it was about $1500 total. Today it runs great still and am thankful for having a company like Clearwater supply heads for a vehicle that seems to have issues but if you keep on top of them is a decent car. Have owned this now for almost 20 years.
