Finally got myself my dream jeep after years of searching. It is a 2001 XJ with 136,000 miles
Recently I am doing an entire exhaust change from the tip to the manifolds
Shout out to YouTube so I can save money, however I am noticing a problem. (At least I think it’s a problem)
The manifolds do not seem to be flush onto the engine, is this normal?
Also I had to remove the washers that originally were on the manifolds or else I would not get a snug fit
I am using Doorman Exhaust Manifolds part numbers 674-468 & 674-467
This XJ set up has the y-pipe pre-cat
Get longer bolts so that you can use the washers. Once you put the intake manifold into place, there will be another set of bolts along the top that will help pull the manifold tight. It looks like you have it connected to the downpipe already; don't... Get it good and tight to the head first and then finagle the rest of the exhaust into place.
