2001 Jeep Cherokee sport
Hi, I have a 01 Cherokee sport. I was idling for about 5 min and my engine light came on. Seemed to be running smooth. Took it in and they said it wasn’t misfiring even though the codes said it was. Only prob I’m having is it keeps stalling, sometimes hard to restart. I’ve had over 2k done to it and it hasn’t fixed the problem. New alternator, new battery, and cables, thermal housing, spark plugs, starter coil and radiator. Gauges read normal. Stalling has gotten so bad I can’t even get out of the parking lot. If can sit for days and start right up, but then dies when I start driving, sometimes hard to restart Please help!!… I’m north of Dallas TX if anyone knows someone that knows a lot about the 01 cherokees.

Oh boy it sounds like you were taken for a ride. What was the code for? Did they give you the cel codes? My suspicion may be a crank position sensor or a fuel pump suddenly cutting out. Could also be an ASD relay issue as well.

Have you verified fuel pressure at rail?
Have you verified amount of back pressure behind cats at lower o2 sensor?
I'd start with both of these to rule them out...
You'll need proper gauges but worth the test.

Good point! You can rent a fuel pressure test gauge set at most parts stores. It's free if you bring it back! Pressure should be around 45.
