Default 2001 Chrerokee Sport 4.0 Engine compatability

I have a 2001 stock cherokee sport with a 4.0. the 5th cylinder wall is scratched pretty bad and the cylinder tried welding its self to the cylinder wall. I was wonder which 4.0 block would bolt up to my jeep and allow me to use all the current parts i have including intake and exhaust manifold and the #0331 cylinder head (not cracked).

Or if i were to get a completely new engine what years are completely compatible with the 2001 cherokee?

lastly is there a web site that will tell me all the parts that are compatible between the different year cherokees?

Thanks!

I believe anything 97 and up will be a direct fit. Avoid 87-90 those are Renix specific. the HO models(91 to ?) may have all the bolt holes and bosses in the right spots?

Jeep went with a COP ignition in 2000 so the electronics are different so keep that in mind.
