Default 2000 XJ tranny compatability

I have a 2000 XJ and the Torque Converter Clutch Selonoid has malfunctioned. The tranny shop wants $250 to replace the part. It is shifting very hard 1st to 2nd. I have a beast of a stroker (4.9) under the hood and the tranny gets "used".

I'm considdering just putting a less abused tranny in instead of fixing this one, but I have no idea how to tell what trannies are compatable to my jeep.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Stick with what works, the AW4 is a great transmission.

Swapping the TCC solenoid is simple.
Drain the tranny
Drop the pan
Disconnect and ubolt the solenoid then pull it out.
Inset new solenoid, install bolt and hook up the connector.
Reinstall the pan
Refill with DexIII/Merc ATF (about 3qts.)

The next thing i run into is where to get a TCC selonoid. They seem to be a (tranny shop only) part. I've tried all of the obvious parts places.

It's been bad for about a month and now I'm getting a hard shift to 2nd. I'm worried that I did dammage. What are your thoughts?

yes. advance auto's little computer just pops tranny switch.
the beast computer that they have at the tranny shop codes the selonoid directly.

it's just shifting real crazy. i'm nervous that there is damage.

Before you spend any cash, pull and clean the NSS. Use the search feature since it's been covered quite a few times.
