Default 2000 xj radiator replacement help!!

Ok, Im replacing my radiator today, and everything was going well until I hit this little speed bump..

How in the heck do I get this piece off?
Ive tried pulling back, like a collar style, but it wont budge. Cant figure it out.
Its the last thing I need to do until I can put new rad in!
Please, any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.

My '96 has two tabs you squeeze to release the lock, but it looks like yours is different, probably the style that requires a tool you slide in to disengage the spring. I've seen a couple types of tool - one is a two-piece scissor-type that has different size collars at each end. The other has plastic collars that slip over the lines and you push in. Both are fairly inexpensive and available at any auto parts store.

It takes a special tool to compress the tabs inside, I made one outta a piece of heavy wire.

Oh wow...ok.
Thanks very much for your help, guys.
Can you elaborate on your homeade tool, since I cant get to the auto parts store now. I may have to rig one up myself.
Thanks again

You can use fuel line removers that you can buy at harbor freight or any parts store.

Ok thanks guys.
Much appreciated.
I ended up getting it off with a small flathead and some patience...
got everything in and back together, all the coolant in...
I'll let you know how it worked.
Thanks again.

So far, so good....drove her for a while, shes sitting at 210, topped off, lookin good.
I did have a weird rev prob when I parked the first time, she was wavering from a little under 750 to about 250 rpms, then would almost stall but then revved back up to about 1100. Hasnt done it since tho.
