Talking 2000 XJ header

Im looking into doing headers on my 00 XJ.
I've come across many different brands borla ,banks, edlebrock ,ect.
There are all a nice chunk of change..
i dont mind spending the money if i see a nice difference in sound for my exhaust and some more power, but the borla headers are 550$..
any tips on what i can get the most bang for my buck?
and if anyone know the HP Gains also id like to know
thanks

if you want it to sound nice for a cheap price slap a glasspack on it.. doesnt do anything for horsepower but makes it sound pretty nice

Any other input on the subject of headers? The Jeep I'm about to go test drive and probably buy ( ) apparently has a cracked one, so I'll be looking for that as my first mod.

I see a Pacesetter one for about $250, but others here apparently like Clifford or Rugged Ridge, both of which are more expensive. Thoughts?

Ouch. $400 seems a bit out of my range - and even so, it doesn't appear they have one to fit an '89 (without extra mods, I'm guessing).

yours prob has the sensor bung on the manifold? could you possibly get away w/ mounting it on a downpipe? they are basically the same, besides the sensor bung

Haven't checked that close, but I expect so. All I know for now is the manifold's definitely broken (pretty noisy on startup), but still quite drivable. I'm getting the truck on Saturday and I'll be poring over it in detail then.

Seems like every vehicle I buy has this "slightly different" problem - my 2000 Mazda 626, which is in all other respects a fine vehicle, has almost no aftermarket performance support because it's just "slightly different" from the more popular 1993-1997 models that came before it. Oh, well...that's why it's my daily driver, and the Jeep's gonna be the project.

don't forget that the 2000 is not the same header as the 1999 and down so make sure you are looking for a header for a 2000 or 2001 or else they wont fit

Get the improved factory MOPAR steel header from the dealer. It has the accordion section in the pipes to allow for expansion. Bolts right up first time.

if you want to keep it street legal then i would leave it plus on the newer manifold it takes the o2 reading at 2 spots not one like the 99 and earlies headers do. just so you know

ya, it has one right in the manifold area on the downpipe, and a down stream after the cat. there isnt two on the manifold :fish slap: the manifolds arent that different. mine looks somewhat like this- http://static.summitracing.com/globa...sm-70-1191.jpg im looking to make it like the 98-99 style downpipe, where it is just one pipe off the header, instead of two. there is nothing that will change that wont make it meet emissions, or throw a code

I love resurecting topics back from the dead. I am looking for a set of headers that will move the joint from the 2 into 1 Y-Pipe in closer to the oil pan. I just replaced my stock low pinion Dana 30 with a High Pinion JK Dana 44 and during test ride number 3 on the street the driveshaft got cloe enough to the joint between the Y-Pipe and the exhaust pipe at the bell housing that it knocked off the balancing weight . Any headers that can move the pipe more to the right (inboard in car position) outside of an acetylone torch and a big hammer would be much appreciated.
