Default 2000 XJ AC and FAN

I have been having issues with the AC for the past couple months.
Replaced the 2 formed hoses with metal ends and changed out the condensor due to hairline crack --- runs COLD now. BUT --- when under
a slight load or incline, the fans stops putting out any air at all. Even if I just have the fan with outside air coming in, it will shut off once in awhile also. On a 5 hr total road trip this weekend, the fan must have shut itself off about 5-6 times.

What the H_____ could it be ? A relay for fan ?????

Does the fan go completely off or does it come out of the defroster on top of the dash?

Default Ac and fan divert to defroster

Did a roadtrip again yesterday to the local mountains and when the AC would stop blowing and the outside air would stop blowing, I put my hand
on top of the dash and the air would be coming out the defroster !!!
This would happen on a grade or load to engine.

It sounds like it is a VACUMN (SP) issue -- but what hose ????

thanks, Randy

Yeah, It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. It happens more on a hill because you put more f a strain on the vacuum system causing it to loose pressure. You need to check out the entire vacuum system. Start at the vacuum ball located under the front bumper on the passenger side. Check the ball for cracks or a loose hose. Fallow the hoses all the way to the fire wall. Make sure that you check all of the vacuum hoses in the engine compartment for cracks or loose connections. Let us know what you find. Good luck on your search.

Default XJ AC/FAN FLOW

The previous owner used this XJ for vacations (pulled behind an RV), so it
was not driven that much. I guess on one of the times that the battery was charged, there was a little explosion of battery acid and it ran down under
the battery tray and got on the vacuum connection "box" and it had a couple of hairline cracks/eaten away area at the hose connection.
When the explosion happened it also put a few little spots in the paint on the fender and front end piece. When I bought it, the spots were not seen because the dealer put a colorant of somesort on it and I did not see
them until I washed it 3-4 times !!!!!
I am heading to Santa Maria, CA this weekend and I will see how it is working ............ thanks for the tips, Randy
PS: finding that connector "box" is not easy . I had no idea it was even there .
