Default 2000 WG 3.1 Veg Oil Conversion!

Hi Guys & Gals, First post here, so be gentle! lol...

Ive just bought my first jeep, a well wicked 2000 3.1 Diesel...(VW Motari Engine)..........Im in the process of sourcing a good kit.....http://www.diesel-therm.com/vegetable-oil-kit.htm seems a good bet (Im in Poland, so a trip to Germany is no bother for the fitting)....

Im a total Jeep newby tho, any one have any experience with a WVO conversion on the 3.1........(although I do realise it wasnt made for the US market..........any hints or tips would be appreciated on how to look after my "new found love"! lol....

Welcome to the forum. Vo conversions are a great idea. Understand you'll need to make a spot for a small diesel tank for starting and to flush the fuel lines before shut -off. Make sure your kit comes with a heater pad for the oil to prevent gelling in cold weather. Have fun and keep us informed on your progress.

Hi folks, yeah, Im in the process of collating as much "reliable" (lol) info on the topic I can.......There are sucessful GC conversions, and by my reckoning the kit above is about the best I can find (or that exists) for teh 3.1 TDi......Filtering, as mentioned seems the key point, and using a mixture of 70% filtered Veg Oil, 15% Petrol, 15% Diesel is a good way to go, (Peeps in the UK have been using this mixture for a long time (upwards of 4-5 yrs, succesfully) The petrol helps strip away a lot of the "bad points (carbon deposits etc) in the waste Veg oil, so I think thats the mix, Ill be using....

I will be researching & speaking to people, mechanics, companies, to try & get a overall picture of the system.........& I promise to keep ou all updated!

Locally, from highend restaurants where I have contacts.........Rapeseed oil, although Poland is one of the worlds largest producers, has went up in price to not make it viable enough to put in Straight (virgin) Oil......although I am looking at possible growing the crop & cold pressing myself in the long run. As land here is quite cheap, so Its a definately viable proposition.
